The Urology program is an ACGME approved, shared residency of Summa Health System, Akron General Medical Center and Akron Children’s Hospital. The program fulfills all of the requirements for certification eligibility of the American Board of Urology. The urology residency is the affiliated residency of the Northeastern Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).
The program offers two positions per year to individuals selected through the American Urological Association and the National Resident Match Program. The first year of training consists of a broad-based pre-urology curriculum that fulfills the general surgery requirements. The resident spends the subsequent four years caring for urological patients at the three participating hospitals and in their outpatient clinics under the direction of a full-time residency director, as well as Department/Division chairmen at each of the three hospitals.
