Residency Programs

Family Medicine

Join a challenging, rewarding program that promises camaraderie and hands-on learning. Our residents get hospital-wide respect as members of one of America's earliest family medicine programs.

The Akron City Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program was chartered soon after the American Board of Family Medicine was established in 1969. The program was officially accredited by the ACGME in 1970 and has maintained the highest accreditation status awarded by the Residency Review Committee ever since. In 2006, our program became accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, making the program dually accredited. The program has 250 graduates, who have gone on to practice in many facets of family medicine - hospitalist, solo practice, urgent care, locum tenens, rural medicine, international medicine, and group practice. Our graduates can be found all over the world - New Zealand, Japan, Kenya, and coast to coast in the United States.
